چکیده

The dephasing and relaxation kinetics of bosonic excitons interacting with a thermal bath of acoustic phonons is studied after coherent pulse excitation. The kinetics of the induced excitonic polarization is calculated within Markovian equations both for subcritical and supercritical excitation with respect to a Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC). For excited densities n below the critical density nc, an exponential polarization decay is obtained, which is characterized by a dephasing rate Γ = 1 T2 . This dephasing rate due to phonon scattering shows a pronounced exciton-density dependence in the vicinity of the phase transition. It is well described by the power law Γ ∝ (n− nc) 2 that can be understood by linearization of the equations around the equilibrium solution. Above the critical density we get a non-exponential relaxation to the final condensate value p with |p(t)| − |p| ∝ 1 t that holds for all densities. Furthermore we include the full self-consistent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) terms due to the excitonexciton interaction and the kinetics of the anomalous functions Fk = 〈aka−k〉. The collision terms are analyzed and an approximation is used which is consistent with the existence of BEC. The inclusion of the coherent x-x interaction does not change the dephasing laws. The anomalous function Fk exhibits a clear threshold behaviour at the critical density. PACS. 71.35.Lk Collective effects( Bose effects and excitonic phase transition) – 71.35.-y Excitons 2 O.M. From polariton condensates to highly photonic quantum degenerate states of bosonic matter.

Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) is a thermodynamic phase transition of an interacting Bose gas. Its key signatures are remarkable quantum effects like superfluidity and a phonon-like Bogoliubov excitation spectrum, which have been verified for atomic BECs. In the solid state, BEC of exciton-polaritons has been reported. Polaritons are strongly coupled light-matter quasiparticles in semiconduct...

Exciton-phonon droplets with Bose-Einstein condensate: transport and optical properties

We discuss the possibility for a moving droplet of excitons and phonons to form a coherent state inside the packet. We describe such an inhomogeneous state in terms of Bose-Einstein condensation and prescribe it a macroscopic wave function. Existence and, thus, coherency of such a Bosecore inside the droplet can be checked experimentally by letting two moving packets to interact.

Transition to a Bose–Einstein condensate and relaxation explosion of excitons at sub-Kelvin temperatures

Quasiparticles in quantum many-body systems have essential roles in modern physical problems. Bose–Einstein condensation (BEC) of excitons in semiconductors is one of the unobserved quantum statistical phenomena predicted in the photoexcited quasiparticles in many-body electrons. In particular, para-excitons in cuprous oxide have been studied for decades because the decoupling from the radiatio...

Bose-Einstein condensation in quantum glasses.

The role of geometrical frustration in strongly interacting bosonic systems is studied with a combined numerical and analytical approach. We demonstrate the existence of a novel quantum phase featuring both Bose-Einstein condensation and spin-glass behavior. The differences between such a phase and the otherwise insulating "Bose glasses" are elucidated.

On the dark nature of exciton Bose-Einstein condensate

We show that for the very same reason that excitons are bright, i.e. coupled to photons, they have a higher energy than dark excitons, even for electrons spatially separated from holes, such as in a double quantum well. Indeed, the same channel which produces the finite electron-hole effective overlap responsible for the absorption and emission of photon allows for Coulomb interband exchange pr...
